What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing. Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., developed EMDR in 1987 and to date, over 400,000 mental health therapists in 52 countries have been trained.
EMDR is an innovative form of psychotherapy that combines many successful elements of a variety of therapeutic approaches with eye movements or other forms of bi-lateral stimulations. The eye movements/bi-lateral stimulations help to effectively stimulate the brain’s Adaptive Information Processing system, which may lead to significant improvements in a short period of time.
What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems. CBT is based on several core principles, including:
